Free quick check: what an automated accessibility check finds on your webshop's home page
In October 2026 I ran an automated check (axe-core, WCAG 2.1 A and AA) on the home pages of 470 Estonian and Latvian webshops, all run by companies above the microenterprise exemption of the European Accessibility Act. 461 of them had at least one error. Type your shop's address: if it was in the sample, you see the result at once. If not, send the address with one click and I mail you the result, free.
What this check sees and what it does not
- It is one page, the home page as it was on the day of the check. It does not see the basket, checkout, product pages or forms.
- An automated check finds only part of accessibility errors: contrast, buttons and links without a name, fields
without a label, images without alt text. Buying by keyboard and the screen-reader experience need a person or a walking script.
- No errors on the home page does not mean the shop conforms; it means only that the automated rules found nothing there.
Privacy
The address you type stays in your browser. The page computes its hash (SHA-256) and compares it with the published results file, which holds no shop names or addresses. Nothing is stored and nothing is sent until you send a mail yourself. The result is an automated check of a public home page: anyone who types the shop's address sees the same summary. The findings with every element and fix go only to the shop itself.
